In the Streets

Luke Fuller: bs boardslide

Hit the streets a couple days ago with Thomas, Dylan, and Luke to check out some spots and have some fun. I'm no photographer, but managed to get a pretty cool shot of Luke.

DSJC: Skate Park of San Marcos Montage

This is the first video that we have made, its a little bit rough at some parts when we were figuring out how to fully use the camera. But, we've got it all figured out now and it's gonna be smooth sailing from here. I had a lot of fun filming and editing this because we spend so much time at the skatepark here in San Marcos, so watch out for more videos coming soon. Keep up with us and thanks for the support !

ENDLESS by Dallas Clayton

You should learn to skateboard.
It is cheap and fun.
It is something you can do when you are alone
or with friends.
Once you learn, you can hang out late at night in parking lots for hours and hours
(and you don’t even have to be high).
Also you can talk to others about skateboarding
and it will make them think you are cool
and they will give you things
like free stickers, or invitations to parties
with lots of guys at them.

If you get good
you can jump over all sorts of things
like cars, and European streets, and statues, and off small buildings.
and people will take pictures of you
which is nice (for later, to show your kids).

If you get really good,
maybe someone will pay you
to take pictures, and make videos of you jumping off all sorts of crap
and they will put you on billboards
and benches where homeless people sleep
and your name will be on thousands of pairs of shoes.
Maybe you will have a video game with you in it
or a TV show where you shoot your friends with weapons.

Or maybe not.

Maybe you will just keep doing it and no one will really care how good you are and you will just use your skateboard to ride down the street
to buy some beer
when your “old lady” takes off with the car.

It’s up to you I guess.
Like anything else.

But you should definitely learn.
It will be worth it
in the long run.

I promise.

Keep Em' Coming!

TC front rock (photo: jake taylor)

I don't want to appear conceited by posting photos of myself on this blog, but I love this photo. It's one of the only good skate photos ever taken of me. I will hold on to this my whole life. Jake has skills with a disposable camera.

Release Date

Whassup peeps. We've set a release date of 4/25/14 for the premiering of DSJC. Last day of filming will be 4/20/14 so we can toke up a bunch of marijuanas in celebration (loljk). We'll release a full promo somewhere around the half way point of filming, so look out for that in the next few months.  Here are a few pics I've taken while filming in the past few weeks since we've started. Keep it sleazy my people.

Stephen Schulz, Wallie

Charlie Kitchen, b/s 180 over the rail. He did this in a ridiculously cool line

Edward, not landing a backside flip attempt. This spot is super fun.

Not only will this be a blog to catalog the progress of Dollar Store Jesus Candle, but also a place for the skateboarding culture in general. For those that care, I will post random things to do with skateboarding. For example, today I am posting a few things that have inspired me throughout the years of skateboarding. These inspirations are my small visions of what I hope DSJC to look like, but this is a cooperative video project. This video will be a  melting pot of everyone involved. Those involved will cast in their own inspirations and visions. DSJC is skateboarding, and skateboarding is one giant melting pot of ideas, attitudes and styles.

This little montage was one of my first exposures to skateboarding culture. I have always wanted to make a video and be apart of a crew like Tiltmode Army. The nonsensical and offbeat name has a unique ring to it. The type of name that can only be produced by a group of friends who love skateboarding and have allowed it to define them over the years. Dollar Store Jesus Candle is exactly that. However, we are not trying to be another Tiltmode. We are simply carrying the torch of pure recreational skateboarding in an era dominated by big contests and energy drink sponsorship.

1st Post

Congratulations, reader! You're one of the tens of people who actually care about Dollar Store Jesus Candle. Dollar Store Jesus Candle is a representation of skateboarding. Dollar Store Jesus Candle is nothing more than friends getting together, skateboarding and having fun. We aren't trying to market ourselves or rip off anyone else's style. We are keeping it real in ditches, parking lots, swimming pools, the streets and anywhere else our four wheeled love affair will take us.  Rest assured our name was not cooked up by another skateboarder turned misunderstood artist. The name was conceived in the most organic way possible by a group of friends who love skateboarding, and we wanted to capture this love on film. Keep it raw and keep it fun the DSJC way. This is Dollar Store Jesus Candle.
